Mr. Harry Ruppenicker, owner of Harry’s Marine Repair & Boatyard (Westbrook, CT), partnered with ePaint Company in 2006 to reduce copper emissions in boat bottom wash water and boatyard storm water discharge.

 

Mr. Ruppenicker recognized that the only way to effectively and economically solve the copper problem at his business was to use ePaint’s environmentally preferred copper-free antifoulants.  After evaluating the effectiveness of ePaint antifouling performance in 2006, Mr. Ruppenicker has mandated ePaint on all sail and power boats (~80) at his boatyard since 2007.

 

The results speak for themselves. Boat bottoms are clean, and as Mike Goodwin (senior staff scientist for ePaint) said,” wash water at Harry’s Marine Repair and Boatyard meets US EPA clean drinking-water standards!”
